Oaklawn Park. For four-years olds and upward. (1 1/8 miles, dirt)

Winner: FIRST MISSION (20, dark bay or brown horse, by Street Sense out of Elude, by Medaglia d’Oro). Jockey: Flavien Prat. Trainer: Brad H. Cox. Owner: Godolphin, LLC. Breeder: Godolphin. Time: 1:49.09.

In a display of tactical brilliance and sheer talent, Godolphin’s homebred First Mission claimed a decisive victory in the $1.25 million Grade II Oaklawn Handicap this Saturday at Oaklawn Park. Guided by Eclipse Award-winning jockey Flavien Prat, the 5-year-old son of Street Sense showcased patience and precision, settling in fourth early before unleashing a powerful stretch run. After navigating traffic and rerouting inside the final furlong, First Mission surged through a narrow opening on the rail to draw clear and capture his sixth career win in 12 starts.

With the early pace set by outsider Go West Go, defending champion Skippylongstocking and Banishing took up the chase, battling for control as First Mission loomed dangerously behind. When the opening finally appeared, Prat made his move, demonstrating perfect timing and race awareness. Banishing stayed on gamely to take second, while Skippylongstocking held for third. This triumph not only adds another major win to trainer Brad Cox’s résumé but reaffirms First Mission as a top-level older horse to watch this season.
