Displaying maturity and class, Mindframe (c, 4, Constitution) delivered back-to-back Grade 1 victories with a decisive win in the prestigious Stephen Foster Stakes (G1) on June 28 at Churchill Downs. The Todd Pletcher-trained colt, owned by Repole Stable and St. Elias Stable, tracked the pacesetter First Mission through measured early fractions before taking command at the top of the stretch. Despite a bold mid-race move from 2024 champion Sierra Leone, Mindframe found another gear late under Irad Ortiz Jr. to prevail by a length. First Mission stayed on gamely for third, narrowly ahead of Kentucky Derby winner Mystik Dan. Covering the 1 1/8 miles in 1:47.48 on a fast track, Mindframe confirmed his place among the top older horses in training. “Today, he was a more professional racehorse than in his entire career, honestly,” noted Ortiz.
